walt disney woulda peed his pants

(from the excitement that is). ok so my backyard is like the set of bambi or something. within oh maybe 10 minutes of getting home i have seen a handful of chickadees, a bright red cardinal, a robin, a bluejay, three rabbits and for the first time ever in my neck of the woods a cheeky little chipmunk who actually charged the robin...quite amusing i might add. im just dumbfounded at how much wildlife ive got in such a contained space. all that was missing today was bambi and an owl...eat your heart out disney! :D

scene it and heard it

ok so last night was a much more eye opening expirience than i ever imagined it would be.

lesson #1-i dont know whether it was the moon or sugar but kids that are hyper prove to be most entertaining and humor filled. (for example never in a million years would i have expected isaac of all people to respond to a child screaming -not an im in pain scream but just pay some attention to me scream- by just screaming louder...now that is something i would do...but i didnt expect isaac to!)

lesson #2 janae is funny to watch when she interacts with kids. (janae in trying to find out why a little boy probably no more than two and a half maybe three years old was crying matter of factly asks him "young man do you have a problem?")

lesson #3 cari is just genuninely funny. (unfortunately for you all i have been asked to not share why the reason for this is...but i will say it involves the elderly and cats)

lesson #4 we go to dennys because it is open, not because of the cleanliness, service or wonderful atmosphere.

lesson #5 things are always cracked out crazy when there's a full moon.

only in kansas

ok so yes we have had some crazy weather lately but man god has been like a tornado in my life right now, popping up anywhere and everywhere, and most definately NOT quietly (which i think i do prefer because when he is loud i listen better and take more notes). im serious...i dont know whether i am looking for him more and that is why i am finding so much more of him or if it is just one of those seasons in my life but he is around every corner waiting to suck me up into the next epiphany or pound the next frying pan down upon me...its amazing, great, mind numbing and scary all at the same time...i only hope my nose and eyes can withstand all the crying and that my heart can take all the tugging its been getting lately. he is GLORIOUS!

the dreaded "g" word

k i have decided that i REALLY really REALLY dispise having to say "good bye"...its just not pleasant and i dont like it which means that it should just stop. cause it is used so much, good bye old hair color that really on seccond thought wasnt as horrible as i thought, good bye st.louis sorry i couldnt visit longer, good bye spring break...why couldnt you have been so much longer...oh how did you end up gone in a poof?, good bye glorious days (it was wonderful while it lasted), good bye good bye freakin good bye...i like hello so much better...its just a shame we dont get to say it more often. good bye always seems too final...even when you shorten it to just bye it still means the end of something, and so often something great. :P thhhhhhhhhhp! to that!

yeah spring break is over and i dont think it had even set in that this last week WAS spring break. :( i did however find out how much i love the outdoors again and how i really really want to go camping and or floating. and hey all you kansas citians...the arboretum is really worth checking out...its got some really cool scenery. that and frisbee is lots of fun even if you have small hands that just cant seem to figure out how to make it work "correctly".

so to leave you with a nice happy feeling after pondering all this good bye crud...why do people always leave me?!? (yes they might come back but then they just leave again!)

oh yeah happy feeling...ok well here are some FAB-OO-LOUS quoteable quotes

"toss me...just dont tell the elf"

"aw...you two bonded! how cute!" ..... "yeah, i think he wants to sit on my lap..."

"fACinating"

(an attempt to describe heartland's church intern program) "its like realworld...without the alcohol, and the sex...oh yeah and the guys punching each other"

ok this one isnt a quote but soooo note worthy!....the watson's girl...how cool a story is that?!!!!

"im just gonna sit on you and then you cant leave...and if need be i can call others and we can take shifts"

"...wait there was a tornado siren this morning?...how'd i miss that?"

ok and now the topping of the sundae

"michelle...i dont think you want to go in there...really." -as i proceed to try to go into the men's restroom this morning at heartland thinking its the door to the offices...too bad it took that comment and a couple of people staring at me before i actually processed what i was actually doing...so for that...THANKS john! :) thank you for not letting me completely embarrass myself...cause if you had waited one more seccond i woulda been in the door and super confused!

the wind

ive been thinking about my grandma quite a bit lately...she died a couple years ago and yet anytime a gust of wind comes around or i see a cardinal or robin i think of her, and lately its almost been like the robin's have been following me, if i am out i see a ton, its kinda crazy but also really comforting. when she died we found the following poem which i thought about after reading caley's post.

Wind

Wind rocking the nestling to sleep
Safe from hte earthlings who prowel beneath
I love the wind as it scuttles the clouds
Blows the dust of the earth
Shakes the leaves of the trees
Makes the flowers nod thier heads
Grasses bend and catch my breath
With a shy laugh
The wind makes one feel alive
Its force-its greatness
Its softness, its fragrance in omen of change

the flying tomato-sorta

so ive been itching to dye my hair for oh i'd say at least a good two to four weeks now...well this last weekend i did...but with some less than desired results...a couple of things i finally learned about hair dye:

#1) be absolutely positively sure you know 100% EXACTLY what color your hair is before you start...thinking its a medium to dark brown when its really more like a light brown can cause problems

#2) when applying move quickly and then make dern sure you get every single strand of hair...otherwise you can run out or worse end up with uneven coverage

#3) if it looks fairly red on the box and has RED in the name on the box...its gonna be REALLY RED!!!!!!!!!!

#4) did i mention know exactly what color hair you are starting with? this also includes being aware that your roots (or new growth hair) could potentially be a different color than the previously dyed hair...ie how i ended up with bright red (bright shimmering flying tomato color) on my roots and a more burgandy/mohogany/purpleish color on my ends...it was basically dumfounding...good thing i didnt take a photo...but just ask the Howe's (Molly, Bill and Marlene...and they can tell you about the color)

#5) when letting your mom dye your hair realize you have to be able to completely trust in her ability to be as anal retentive as you would like to be.

#6) the most important lesson...in hair color correction think of your handy dandy pigment color wheel...the color you have that you want to get rid of (ie. bright flyin tomato red-looks good on mr. white but definately NOT ME!) and then find the color directly opposite it...to cancel out red you would need a greenish hue.

#7) after dealing with the stress of dying hair twice in four days be thankful for the hair on your head not having fallen out or breaking off and decide that sometimes natural really IS better, and that really dark brown(almost black) that is dull can be a color that i am thrilled to have

so yeah...know what you are starting with and know how to fix it before you mess it up...i am sooooo ready now...however im thinkin this may be the last time i dye it for quite some time...i dont think i can handle the stress of it all! or the friedness of my hair either...

:S

and the question of the evening was...

ok so today was my first ash wednesday as a true believer in christ and it was just amazing. im not going to bore you with details but there were a lot of wonderful moments throughout the day. after the service we had at heartland a group of us went out to winsteads to eat...now keep in mind there were twelve of us there all with ashes on our forheads and to quote isaac "man i really nailed some of you...i mean just nailed...with the ashes". the waitress was less than pleased with us, i dont blame her...it was a big group of us but we werent being obnoxious or even really all that loud (especially for us!). but oh well...eventually we ended up trying to find a good conversational question and in the process of trying to find one john ended up saying "i feel like we need to start playing truth or dare now..." well we finally found one. i suggested we all "tell one illegal thing" that we have done. to which john stated "and speeding doesnt count". now i was expecting people to really have to sit there and think...but man oh man i dont think anyone really had to think too awful hard...we were a bunch of bad little boys and girls! amongst the group we had two sign stealers, multipule ____ (fill in the blank) stealers or thiefs which ever you prefer, two liars one of which lied to customs and the other to a police officer, we had a pyro, and a couple special effects masters. but the quote of the evening was "tis better to steal than recieve", and this was comming from someone who was taking christmas lights off of people's houses for a full month! so what did i learn today? i learned that a group of christians are the BEST place to ask what is one illegal thing that you have done...cause you are bound to get some really good answers! :)

so...

what is one illegal thing YOU have done?

yee haw

happy 1st day of may...er...i mean march...man it feels like may...my apartment is so stinkin hot right now that after im done writing this im leaving to go somewhere that is cooler cause my hands and feet wont stop sweating...i think my ac isnt working so well. :( oh well here's to it snowing in april...you all know winter isnt done yet...it still hasnt had its last bang yet...and ya know its gotta get yucky wet and miserable before we have too many more days like today...(at the very least 75 degrees and bright sunshine) oh glorious glorious day!
anyhoo im outta here...i cant stand it anymore!
