not to be left out...

ok so it seems that a wave of bat stories are 'flying' around...so as not to be left out i will add my own, for easy access to the others go to amy's blog. at anyrate my story is not so much my story but a story that i love to hear over and over again when my dad re-tells of the first and last time he took my uncle brad fishing. (too bad im already giggling)

my poor uncle brad...to begin with he is not an outdoorsman at all...unlike my father who could be content to sit and fish all day possibly even everyday. anyhoo they decided to go fishing close to dusk and at the time they were living in montana...beautiful state go if you get the chance...and well my dad really likes to fish on the river, so they went to a fairly remote area suited up thier poles and distanced themselves to give each other a fair chance at landing some fish. well no sooner had my uncle lost sight of my dad did he end up crossing the path of a skunk...seeing as how he had no desire to bathe in tomato juice that night he decided he would do better to cross the river and move a bit (you know to get out of its way) well to make a really long story somewhat short...it followed him! my poor uncle kept moving and criss-crossing the river and the stupid skunk just kept following him. finally he was able to lose the skunk only to not much later end up casting his line out only for it to be swallowed by a nearby flying bat!

now then you must realize how this day had already been for my uncle, who was unaccustom to being outdoors much less terrorized by a skunk only to now find a bat at the end of his fishing line, and he now had to try to figure out what to do with this bat on a string...well he reeled in his catch only to be stuck trying to figure out what to do with it...it now of course was shrieking and flapping like crazy not understanding why its 'dinner' somehow made him stuck...anyway my uncle with his bat on a pole ended up deciding to drown the poor thing which apparently took some work, and in the end he ended up just cutting the line and loosing the fly anyway...needless to say my uncle has not been fishing since. but to me the thought of him sitting there with a bat on the end of his pole after being tramatized by a skunk...is just too good. so that ladies and gents is my addition to the bat stories that are for lack of a better word flying about.
:D
